        Julian Holstein

Julian grew up in Berlin, Germany, where he studied Chemistry at the Free University. In September 2007 he successfully completed his Diploma thesis (equiv. to Master thesis) in the group of Prof. Dr. Peter Luger at the Institute of Crystallography. He was supervised by Dr. Birger Dittrich and Prof. George M. Sheldrick, FRS during his doctoral studies at the University of Goettingen, Germany. He obtained his PhD in September 2011 and continued to work there as a Post-doc. His research projects involve experimental charge-density determination, the extension of the Invariom method and state-of-the-art methods to reliably determine the absolute configuration of light atom structures. Since June 2012 he is working with Gerard Bricogne, Global Phasing Ltd. to tackle difficult supramolecular X-ray structures by utilizing methods of macromolecular crystallography.

     Serap Yapar

Serap was born in Turkey in 1985. She received her MSc degree form the Bogazici University Chemistry Dept/ Istanbul Turkey. Her MSc thesis was entitled: "Synthesis and Microcontact Molding of Functionalizable Hydrogels".

     Piotr Nowak

Piotr was born in 1987 in Warsaw, Poland. He studied chemistry at the University of Warsaw. He worked on high-pressure transesterification reaction of sterically hindered esters and stereoselective cycloadditions of nitrile oxides to alkenes under the supervision of Prof. Janusz Jurczak. He was also member and President of Warsaw University Student Chemical Society "Fulleren". He received his MSc in 2010 with the thesis entiteled "Asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. The influence of electronic properties of substrates on reactivity and selectivity". Then he joined the research group of Sijbren Otto at the Centre for Systems Chemistry and Stratingh Institute for Chemistry in Groningen, the Netherlands, to work on adaptive nanomaterials and self-replicating chemical systems.

    Maria Iokonomou

Maria was born in Athens, Greece and in 2008 she received her bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Athens. During the same year Maria started her MSc studies in "Pharmaceutical Analysis-Quality control" under the supervision of Dr. Ekaterini Antoniadou-Vyza at the School of Pharmacy in Athens. Currently, she  is a PhD student in MIRA institute at the University of Twente in Enschede, Netherlands under the supervision of Dr. Aldrik Velders. Her main scientific interests are in the field of analytical, physical and supramolecular chemistry.

Besides chemistry, Maria enjoys meeting new people, learn foreign languages and going out with friends.

    Matthew Wise

Matt grew up in suburban north London ans studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford between 2006 and 2010. He undertook his Masters project in the group of Professor Paul Beer working on the synthesis of interlocked anion receptors. In January 2011 Matt moved to Lausanne, Switzerland and began his PhD studies at the EPFL under the supervision of Professor Kay Severin. His work entails the applications of boronic acids in supramolecular Chemistry. Outside of the lab, Matt tries to spend as much time as he can in the mountains.

    Laura Bonaventura

Laura was born in Mirano (Venice) on 8th August 1986. She studied at Università degli Studi di Padova where she received her Bachelor Degree on 2008 and her Master Degree on October 2010, both of them in Industrial Chemistry. During her master thesis she worked with Prof. Giulia Licini (Department of Chemical Sciences, Padova) on "sulfoxidations catalyzed by C3 symmetric Ti(IV) complexes: the alcoholic co-ligands role". From November 2010 to July 2011 Laura worked again in the same group thanks to a post-graduate scholarship. From the 1st of September 2011 Maria is a PhD student at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel as Dynamol ESR.

    William Ramsay

William was born and raised in the frozen wonderland of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He received his Bachelor of Science with Specialization in Chemistry from the University of Alberta in 2011, having worked with research projects within the lab of Dr. Eric Rivard. Since October of 2011 he is working towards a PhD in chemistry at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Nitschke.

    Colm Browne

Colm was born in Dublin, Ireland. He did his undergraduate studies in Trinity College Dublin completing research projects with Professor John Kelly, Professor Sylvia Draper and Dr. Wolfgang Schmitt working on the synthesis of inorganic materials for carbon capture and gas storage. He started as a PhD student in the group of Dr. Jonathan Nitschke in October 2010.

 Christos Tsiamantas

Christos was born in Thessaloniki, Greece on the 15th of April 1985. He received his BSc degree in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the year 2009 and his BSc thesis was entitled "Characterization of micellization behavior of model asymmetric miktoarm star copolymers (PS)(PI)(PI') in selective solvent Dimethylacetamide" under the supervision of Prof. M. Pitsikalis. In 2011 he received his MSc degree, in the School of Medicine, at the same Institution. The MSc program was entitled "Human Neoplastic Disease: Clinicopathological study and recent research". His MSc thesis was carried out in the Institute of Physical Chemistry NCSR Demokritos, Laboratory of Chemical Biology, under the supervision of Dr. D. Vourloumis and was entitled "Design and synthesis of novel angiogenesis inhibitors targeting the Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 (VEGFR-2)". From the 1st of October 2011 Christos is working as a PhD student on the project "Dynamic Assembly of protein-sized Foldamers", under the supervision of Dr. I. Huc in IECB, Pessac, France.

        Kitjanit Neranon

Kitjanit was born in Thailand in 1985. She studied at Prince of Songkla University where she received her Bachelor Degree (Chemistry) on 2008 and my Master Degree on April 2011 (Organic Chemistry). During her master thesis Kitjanit worked with Assist. Prof. Tienthong Thongpanchang (Department of Sciences, Mahidol University) on " Pyrene Derivatives: Synthesis and Their Photo-, Electrochemical and Electroluminescence Properties". She have been working under Dynamol ESR as a PhD student from November 2011 on the topic of "Assembly of Synthetic Capsides" under the supervision of Prof. O. Rämstrom at KTH Rayal Institute of Technology, Sweden.

     Sreejith Shankar

Sreejith was born at Tripunithura (Kerala-INDIA) in 1984. He obtained his MSc degree in 2007 from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India. His project work was done under the supervision of Dr. T. K. Chakraborty, at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad – INDIA. In 2007 he worked as Summer Research Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences (2007) and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre of Advanced Scientific Research (2007). Between 2007 and 2011, Sreejith worked towards his PhD degree at Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Zanda and in June 2011 he joined Prof. Milko van der Boom's group at the Weizman Istitute. His rearch interests include coordination chemistry, organic synthesis, multilayer chemistry, halogen bonding, supramolecular and dynamic assembly of molecular architectures.

        Rui Carvalho

Rui Pedro was born in Oeiras, Portugal in 1985. He obtained his BSc degree in 2009 from Superior Technical Institute - Technical University of Lisbon, focusing on natural product chemistry and organocatalysis, under supervision of Professor C. A.M. Afonso. His MSc was obtained in 2010 at the same institute under supervision of Professor A. Pombeiro in "Synthesis of Cu(II) and Ni(II) metal organic frameworks and its applications in the peroxidative oxidation of alkanes under mild conditions". He has been working as an Early Stage Researcher for the Dynamol ITN at Micronit Microfluidics, in The Netherlands, with a PhD promotion from Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR). His research interests include organic/inorganic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, electrochemistry, surface chemistry, nanotechnology and microfluidics.

        Quan Gan

Quan was born in Wuhan, China, in 1982. He studied chemistry at Central China Normal University, and received his Bachelor Degree in 2005 and his Master Degree in 2008. Then he obtained his PhD in 2012 from Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing, China) and University of Bordeaux (Bordeaux, France) under the guidance of Prof. Hua Jiang and Dr. Ivan Huc. During the doctoral research, his work has focused on the design and synthesis of aromatic amide oligomers (foldamers) to mimic the structures and functions of biomacromolecules.
